I would not be so quick to blame remisers and stock brokers from trying to generate commissions, that is after all their business model.<br /><br />Similar, insurance and investment products packaged as insurance/investment hybrids generate generous commissions to financial planners. It is not surprising that incentives do affect behaviour of individuals in maximising self-interest.<br /><br />The key to understanding the difference between gambling and investing is one's ability to understand that for the majority, earned income is the way to build an investible networth.
